Backup and Restoration

As business becomes increasingly information centric, value of data is spiraling upwards. Risks associated with data loss and the probabilities of such loss are increasing like never before for a myriad of reasons including IT complexity, lack of sufficient controls, security breaches, sabotage and so on. Worldwide statistics suggest that the impact of a data loss is worth the square of the intrinsic value of that data. This is where an efficient backup and archival solution helps in reducing the backup time and cost of backup, while increasing the reliability and regulatory compliance. Data Backup solutions provide redundancy to data and allow easy manageability, and enhanced reliability. These options range from Desktop Backup, Tape Libraries, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), Network File Storage (NFS), Direct Attached Storage (DAS), Disk to Disk Storage (D2D) storage etc.

One Cloud specializes in assessing, designing and deploying enterprise-class backup and restoration systems for a wide variety of applications and environments, while keeping in mind your recovery-time and recovery-point objectives. We deliver the best of class comprehensive backup and archival solutions revolving around leading edge technologies from Veritas, Commvault, Symantec, HP and Sun. Our solution architects go through a detailed drill starting with advisory services for backup, information audit and classification, evolving backup policies, sizing the backup solution, component selection, implementation of the solution and post implementation support. Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery

As business becomes increasingly dependent on information and the technologies to store and process that information, the financial and other risks associated with unavailability of data or applications are increasing like never before. A few minutes of outage has the potential to wipe off millions of dollars, lose thousands of customers and total loss of repute. The ability of a business to recover from a disaster or better still continue despite a disaster is the ultimate test of IT resilience.

One Cloud delivers comprehensive DR and BC solutions based on various technologies such as Veritas, Commvault, Symantec, HP, Cisco, Oracle and Microsoft. Our business resilience consultants run your entire IT setup through a comprehensive analysis including business value of each application, RPO and RTO needed by each strategic business unit, designing of a solution, evolution and implementation of an incident management strategy, and post implementation support. Our BC and DR techniques include leveraging the cloud, local and remote replication of critical data, incremental backup etc. We undertake a comprehensive enterprise-wide review of existing disaster recovery capabilities, disaster recovery infrastructure and operations. This includes recommendations to optimize effectiveness with detailed analysis of business impact, potential vulnerabilities, development, testing, implementation and maintenance. We then assist in developing better disaster recovery plans, lowering storage-related costs and efficiently managing information through all stages of its lifecycle. Storage Consolidation and Data Security

Businesses in today’s competitive environment face the management challenges of data and information that are ever increasing. With increasingly stringent compliance demands and the growing complexity of the storage infrastructure, storage administrators are feeling the pressure. While the costs of maintaining storage infrastructure continue to increase, IT budgets often do not. Storage Consolidation provides a common platform to allocate and manage growing demands for data storage and helps reduce administrative effort by establishing a single management console that greatly enhances efficiency and manageability.

One Cloud Engineers architect, designing and deploy flexible, open, standards-based storage infrastructures that enable enterprises to be adaptive to future needs and growth. As data volume grows, adding more capacity to disparate and underutilized systems is costly and too complex to manage efficiently. One Cloud using its engineering expertise and taking into consideration many factors such as technologies, performance, archival and capacity requirements will build a solution that can –

  • Improve storage management and utilization for ensured availability
  • Reduce TCO and increase ROI
  • Ensure business continuity
  • Enhance Data Security with innovative access and encryption features
  • Manage your applications' data lifecycle and simplify operations

One Cloud offers comprehensive security plans, which help reduce the complexity of managing your enterprise information and physical security needs. Our approach surrounding threat prevention, centralized management, and scalable network access control enables you to protect data and ensure business continuity by proactively blocking known and unknown attacks, and controlling noncompliant endpoints.

Our major areas of expertise are –
  • Anti-Spam
  • Anti-Spy ware
  • Anti-Virus
  • Encryption
  • Host Intrusion Prevention
  • Mobile Security
  • Network Access Control / Network Intrusion Prevention
  • Risk and Compliance Analysis
  • System Security Management
  • Vulnerability Management

Archival and Compliance

Companies need to keep long-term copies of their data for a variety of reasons, including to aid in disaster recovery and compliance archiving to meet government regulations. A good archiving strategy can reduce costs of data storage and help your company adapt to the expansion of data growth. One Cloud analyses your enterprise setup, creates a base plan and applies archiving services such as retention, distribution, and security across a variety of content types, while automating data movement to the most appropriate tier of storage. The result is secure archived data at the lowest total cost.

One Cloud’s archiving solutions allow cost control, risk minimization and increased content reusability. Our procedures include archiving unchanged data for speedy backup and recovery process, automation to increase information retrieval speed, regulatory compliance to preserve data as per rules and regulations and efficient storage by migrating infrequently accessed data from primary systems to more cost-effective archival storage. Storage Technologies

SAN Storage - A storage area network (SAN) is a dedicated network that provides access to consolidated, block level data storage. SANs are primarily used to make storage devices, such as disk arrays, tape libraries, and optical jukeboxes, accessible to servers so that the devices appear like locally attached devices to the operating system.

Fibre Channel (FC) is a high-speed network technology used for storage networking. Fibre Channel was primarily used in the supercomputer field, but has now become the standard connection type for SAN in enterprise storage. Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) is a computer network technology that encapsulates Fibre Channel frames over Ethernet networks. FCoE has particular application in data center SANs due to the cabling reduction it makes possible, as well as in server virtualization applications, which often require many physical I/O connections per server. Internet Small Computer System Interface (ISCSI), an IP based storage networking standard for linking data storage facilities. It is a SAN protocol, allowing organizations to consolidate storage into data center storage arrays while providing hosts with the illusion of locally attached disks.

NAS Storage - Network-attached storage (NAS) is file-level computer data storage connected to a computer network providing data access to a heterogeneous group of clients. NAS not only operates as a file server, but also is specialized for this task either by its hardware, software, or configuration of those elements. NAS is often manufactured as a computer appliance - a specialized computer built from the ground up for storing and serving files, rather than simply a general-purpose computer being used for the role.

Commvault Simpana - Commvault Simpana is a data and information management suite built on a scalable, single platform and unifying code base. Simpana software modules share a common set of advanced capabilities related to the storage and access of data and are administered through one console application. These include Backup and Recovery, Snapshot Management, Deduplication, Replication, Archive, Reporting and Analytics, Hierarchical Storage Management (Automated Storage Tiering), Enterprise Search and Security and Encryption.

Symantec/ Veritas Net Backup - Symantec NetBackup (earlier Veritas NetBackup) is an enterprise level heterogeneous backup and recovery suite. It provides cross-platform backup functionality to a large variety of Windows, UNIX and Linux operating systems. It is set up with a central master server that manages both media servers (containing the backup media) and clients. Core server platforms are Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, Tru64, Linux and Windows.
